SHOCKED
Shock happens when something unexpected feels really big, really fast. It can freeze the body for a moment and make emotions feel stuck. Helping children feel safe again is key when shock happens.

Tips for Parents
🌟 Name the Emotion
Help your child recognize shock by saying:
"You look really still — like something surprised you a lot."
🌟 Stay Nearby
Give quiet support without rushing them to talk. Shock sometimes needs a few minutes to soften.
🌟 Offer Gentle Words
Soft words like:
"You're safe now. I'm right here,"
can help children begin to unfreeze.
Bonus Tip
If shock turns into lingering fear:
Stay calm and patient.
Invite them to talk, draw, or cuddle when ready — no pressure.
